Today is a warm & sunny day. There is hardly a cloud in the sky. I eat my breakfast of scrambled eggs, orange juice, and grapefruit, then make a coffee latte for each of my parents and one for myself. The beverage is still to scalding to drink so I slip on some rubber booties and a jacket. Then the dog, (Zeeba) with me for a quick jog. I open the mailbox and get the bundle of mail on my way back in. I read the Camrose Booster and Messenger of Truth while I sip my latte. In the Messenger I find that Landon and Shandyn, (a boy and a girl from Faunsdale, Alabama that I have never heard of before) were baptised on January 9, 2011. This is an interesting fact for me because of their rhyming names.
Then outdoors I go to do chores that include sorting eggs and feeding a canine. After chores, I complete some wiring in the basement of our home. Then it is time for lunch. I heat up some bean dip that I made yesterday, crunch on some nutritious snow peas, and spoon down some squishy apple sauce.
I sneak upstairs to where my mother is sewing dresses for Annual Meeting and ask her if I may go exploring.
"Driving or walking?" she says.
"Driving." I clarify.
"Yes you may."
"Ok."
"Will you take the dog?"
"Yes, goodbye."
"Bye."
Then off I go with Zeeba in the box of the white pickup, hanging on for dear life. Many miles later we come to a snow-filled road with trees on both sides of it. I bring the pickup to a halt, shut off the engine, and activate the hazard lights. Then out I hop, as does the dog. We trudge down the lane that has not been used since autumn. The snow is very deep and soft so my canine friend has a struggle trying to wade through it. (for it is up to his chest) He decides that it is much easier for him to follow me than try to make his own trail.
After a spell we come to a clearing with an old barn in the middle of it, some man made bee-hives to my left, and some newish bins at the back and to the right. While surveying this scene, I notice something peculiar. Scattered about the clearing are little black dots. I inch over to the nearest one to inspect it. It is a a frozen bee! The only thing I can figure out is that one warm day, the honeybees awoke & decided it was high time to fly around. So out of their hive they flew. The temperature changed and they could not make it back to the hive. Poor things! But one thing I wonder, will they come alive oncr again in spring?
The barn proved rather hard to get into. Most of the floor was covered with pigeon poop just like most old buildings in Alberta. Heading back to the pickup was much easier because I had a trail to follow. The dog hopped into the box once again and off we glided, taking the up & down road along the river valley. We searched for mor exciting places to explore on a later date.
Then home I zipped to do more chores. While eating a supper of tacosalad before heading to Bible Study, I watched a most beautiful sunset! The colors of pink, orange, gold, purple, and green kept themselves seperate from each other in different cloud banks. Glory be!
