Monkshood is a beautiful perennial flower. It is usually purple or white with purple edges. The flower is shaped like a monk's hood :) Breakfast is the first meal of the day. Some common foods to eat at breakfast time are eggs, pancakes, cold cereal, oatmeal, toasted bread, waffles, fruit, french toast, etc. Upon this day on our farm, my Dad, Mom, and three brothers, (my older sister is presently in Guatemala so she was not present) gathered around our breakfast nook table. In the center of the table stood a bouquet of monkshood, iris spikes, and delphiniums in an antique-ish cream-colored watering can. The menu was pancakes which I had made (they were abit too salty but no one said anything so I kept my mouth shut as well) fresh milk, and a white cream syrup. Peanut butter was an additional topping.
The prayer was said and people began to help themselves to this feast. Lucas poured himself a glass of milk out of a nearly empty carton. Levi proceeded to do the same and emptied the carton. Then Lucas said in a loud-ish voice, "LEVI, something big poured into your cup!" Levi peered into his cup, then mentioned the word yuck. "Is the milk old?" questioned Mom.. Levi brought the cup over to her to be inspected. "It looks kind of like a spider--" she said. This brought a frown to Lucas' face. "I'm not drinking my milk!" he said. The two cups of milk were then poured into a bowl to be lapped up later by a special feline. This is when the discovery was made. One of the monkshood flowers had fallen into the carton of milk while it had been sitting on the table and from there it had been distributed into my brothers' drinking utensils.. each member of the family breathed a sigh and continued eating the first meal of the day...
